Tibetan artistic wonders of Ta’er Monastery exhibited in Paris
The “Exhibition Week of Three Tibetan Artistic Wonders of Ta’er Monastery in Qinghai” opened at the Cultural Center of European Times in the suburb of Paris, France on Jan.14, Xinhua reported.
Ta’er Monastery is one of the six major monasteries of China’s Tibetan Buddhism, also a key cultural relics unit under state protection of China and a famous cultural heritage site. It is not only a Buddhist holy land but also an artistic palace. Butter sculpture, piled-up embroidery and mural painting are referred to as the three Tibetan artistic wonders, unique in style. They have been included into the list of the national intangible cultural heritages of China.
During the exhibition, Rinpoche Rakho of Ta’er Monastery will lead the lama artisans to display the cultural treasures such as Thangka, butter sculptures, sand Mandala, and piled-up embroidery, with a view to blessings local Chinese and French friends as well as praying for world peace.
Losang Nganshul, Standing Vice Director of the Management Committee of Ta’er Monastery delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
"The Buddhist cultural treasures exhibited in Paris, including the three Tibetan artistic wonders, represent the wisdom of the Tibetan people and will help European audiences understand the mysterious Tibetan Buddhist culture,” he said.
He also expressed his hope that the Exhibition Week could present the great beauty of Qinghai and the amazing artistic charm of Ta’er Monastery, and deepen the folk friendship between China and France.
According to Liang Chengxi, Secretary of the Cultural Office of Chinese Embassy in France, recent years have seen rich and diversified fruits achieved in the deepening cultural exchanges between China and France. He looks forward to more cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries.
