On Dec. 29, Nepal’s vice premier Kamal Thapa concluded his visit to China. During Thapa’s brief stop at Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, Palbar Tashi, the Region’s vice chairman, greeted him at the airport and the two conducted a short meeting.

Tashi welcomed Thapa’s delegation on behalf of the chairman of autonomous region, Losang Jamcan.

Tashi praised the long-standing friendly relationship between China and Nepal and briefly talked about the great changes in Tibet over the past half-century. He said that in the 60 years since China and Nepal have established a diplomatic relationship, the relationship between the two countries has been stable, enjoyed healthy growth, and has more room to develop. Currently, the Tibetan economy is developing well, the various ethnic groups are living in harmony, the society is stable, with a healthy environment and happy residents, and Tibet is enjoying one of the most stable growth periods in history.

Tibet is willing to continue its close collaborations and exchanges with Nepal in trade, culture, tourism and more, and deepen the partnerships, Tashi added.

Thapa expressed his gratitude toward the Chinese government and people for their long-time support to Nepal, as well as his gratitude toward the ongoing support from Tibet Autonomous Region, especially after the earthquake on Apr. 25.

Tibet Autonomous Region is a bridge and link between China and Nepal. Thapa hopes Tibet will continue to support the growth of Nepal, strengthen the China-Nepal friendship, and strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
