Afforestation achieves success in Shigatse City
Currently, the first winter irrigation at Namling ecological demonstration zone’s 18,000 mu forest is near completion, and tree-painting work will proceed.
Namling County is located in the upper reaches of the northern bank of Yarlung Tsangpo River, northeastern Shigatse City. In the past three years, with help and support from relevant governmental departments of the Tibet Autonomous Region and from Weifang City in Shandong Province, the subsequent income from Namling County’s forest planting has brought material benefits to the farmers. Green ecological benefits are more visible day by day and forest planting has proven an effective way to reduce poverty.
