The six-part documentary "Tibet", co-produced by Beijing TV station and Tibet TV station, has been shown every night at 22:38 on CCTV-1 from Nov. 19, 2015, Beijing News reported.

The large-scale documentary, in a bid to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Tibet Autonomous Region, was jointly sponsered by the Beijing Municipal Propaganda Department and the Tibet Autonomous Region Party Committee Propaganda Department.

"Tibet" contains three main themes: "sacred territory", "flourishing new life" and "reincarnation". There are a total of six episodes with each theme taking up two episodes. This documentary series explains in a simple and coherent way that "Tibet has always been an inseparable part of China", the "historical significance of democratic reform in Tibet" and "reincarnation system of Tibetan Buddhism". These three areas have drawn a lot of attention, but at the same time there is a lack of general understanding and some areas are even misunderstood or distorted. This is also the first time domestic media has carried out a special report focused on these three themes.

Production for the documentary "Tibet" took nearly a year, revealing a number of disclosures and exclusives for the first time. Through strong support from Central Archives, Tibet Autonomous Region Archives, Tibet Autonomous Region Museum and many other units they assembled a huge number of exclusives and valuable documents, such as the repeated communication between Chairman Mao Zedong, Prime Minister Zhou Enlai and the Dalai Lama. It also includes hymns the Dalai Lama wrote to Mao Zedong and "The 17-Article Agreement", which holds so much significance for work on new China’s Tibet; secret defections in the CIA and top-secret documents supporting defection of the Dalai Lama; Tibet Autonomous Region Archives’ great treasure "The 29-Ariticle Ordinance for the More Effective Governance of Tibet"; also from the Yuan Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, central government seals given to the local Tibetan government, including the gold seal granted to the Dalai Lama and the Panchen Erdeni.

All of these national treasures and cultural relics will be seen for the first time. These documents and artifacts provide strong evidence that Tibet has been China’s territory since ancient times.
