In recent years, Nyingchi City in Tibet Autonomous Region has dedicated itself to building a national base for the "west-east power transmission " project. By following the principles of harmony, stability, safety as well as "development in protection and protection in development", the city aims to further promote progress in the hydropower energy industry.
Nyingchi has actively developed hydropower planning and standardized small watershed development. The Laohuzui and Shoka power plants have successively gone into operation. Basin hydropower planning was completed at Nyang River, Yuqu River and Yi-ong Tsangpo River. Preliminary work has progressed steadily at a number of hydropower stations including Duobu, Potoh, Songta, Emi, Hongdong and others.
At the same time the "power transfer to outside Tibet" project has been started, actively bringing together Tibet’s middle and eastern power grids. Nyingchi has effectively implemented preliminary work for the 50MW grid-connected photovoltaic power generation project.
Up to now there have been 12 hydropower development enterprises in Nyingchi, building 108 hydropower stations of various types with an installed capacity of 200,000 kilowatts. In 2014 power generation capacity reached 673 million kilowatts per hour and transmission of electricity to Lhasa was at 388 kilowatts per hour, an increase in value of 530 million yuan (85.5 million US dollars).
