Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Oct. 31 paid an official visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) to meet ROK President Park Geun-hye and attend the sixth trilateral summit - China, Japan and the ROK. His visit opens a new chapter for rebooting the trilateral summit, which has been suspended for three years.

As the global economy is reviving weakly and the Asia Pacific economic and trade patterns are facing adjustments, Li’s visit plays a significant role to expand regional cooperation in Northeast Asia.

China, Japan and ROK are important engines to boost the Asian and global economy. Geographical proximity and cultural affinities can provide much development potential. China-ROK relations have entered the best times in its history with frequent high-level exchanges.

Additionally, the free trade agreement has already promoted economic and trade cooperation, as well as the cultural and folk exchanges between the two countries. Li’s visit will lift ties further.

Meanwhile, signs are showing that China-Japan and ROK-Japan relations are on the rebound. It’s high-time to restart the trilateral summit, which would facilitate  mutual political trust and an enlargement of pragmatic cooperation, and inject new energies into a common destiny for all of Asia.
