Recently, the traffic weather station on the top of Demola Mountain has been put into use, the first one of its kind in southeastern Tibet Autonomous Region, people.cn reported.

This automatic weather station will provide the first-hand meteorological data for high-quality traffic weather services at high altitude.    

This traffic weather station conducts real-time observation and collection of data on temperature, humidity, wind direction, wind speed, road temperature, rainfall, etc., implements real-time monitoring over the data via wireless communication and delivers the data to the server of the central station of Nyingchi Municipal Meteorological Bureau to realize all-weather tracking of the meteorological monitoring information along the important communication lines and provide timely, accurate and efficient data support for road weather services.    

With an altitude of 4,810 meters, the Demola Mountain Pass features most complicated road conditions and frequent road disasters, most prone to accumulation of snow and icing on the road. The ice formation period lasts for over three months there every year, with great traffic safety hazard.
