Medog Culture and Tourism Festival will take place from Oct. 23 to 25, China Tibet News reported.

The Medog Culture and Tourism Festival aims to implement ecological protection, expand the tourist market home and abroad, and display the rich tourism resources as well as unique Monpa and Lohpa folk customs in Medog, said a Medog County government official.

A variety of activities will take place in succession during the early stages of the Festival. Hiking will start on Oct.19 in Mainling County of Nyingchi City with hikers arriving in Medog County on the 22. The driving tour will kick off on Oct. 22 in Bome County, and arrive in Medog the same day.

The Medog Culture and Tourism Festival Organizing Committee revealed that the opening ceremony would be held on Oct. 23, featuring theatrical performances and outstanding songs from the local Monpa and Lohpa people.

Medog County boasts some truly beautiful scenery and is located in Nyingchi City in southeastern Tibet, at an altitude of 1,200 meters. After the formal establishment of Medog scenic area on June 10, 2014, the number of visiting tourists has increased significantly. On Aug. 25 , due to continuous heavy rain causing mudslides along the hiking trail, Medog scenic area was temporarily closed.
