From 8th to 10th October, a well-known pediatric cardiologist,deputy director of Beijing Anzhen Hospital’s pediatric cardiology department, Gu Hong, spent her vacation in Tibet’s Bangoin County and Lhasa City carrying out screening and referral work for children with congenital heart disease. Since 2004 Gu Hong has been to Tibet 11 times to take part in or organize screening for congenital heart disease sufferers. She has also carried out surgery on more than 160 Tibetan children at Bejing Anzhen Hospital.In 2004, having studied in both Japan and the United States and having worked for 15 years, Gu Hong gave up the excellent working and living conditions abroad to return home to accomplish her goals. As a leader in the field of pediatric cardiology, Gu Hong was sent to the Tibetan plateau by Bejing Anzhen Hospital and Beijing Municipal Health Bureau 10 times to help children with congenital heart disease.
