Tibet plans to build 76 management and protection stations in Changtang National Nature Reserve. Currently, ten stations have already been completed along with 241 professionals recruited to join the management and protection team. Overall building work is scheduled to complete by September next year, achieving coverage of 298,000 square kilometers.

"Previously when on patrol, many dead fish would appear near Pangong Tso Lake, but since the government has paid closer attention to the ecological environment, there have barely been any cases recently," said a reporter at Pangong Tso Lake station . According to reports, since the presence of effective protection, the number of Tibetan antelope in Changtang Nature Reserve has increased from around 30,000, before establishment of the protected area, to 60,000; yak numbers have increased from around 10,000 to more than 30,000; Tibetan wild donkeys have increased from around 10,000 to more than 40,000; argali, blue sheep and snow leopards have all doubled in numbers; and vegetation also received effective protection.
