Jinan Tibetan Middle School trains over 3600 students in 30 years
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Tibet Autonomous Region and the 30th anniversary of support for Tibet through education, Jinan Tibet Middle School, at the beginning of the semester, organized a series of special activities focused on "remembering the past but forging ahead into the future; loving one’s country and helping prosper Tibet by bettering oneself". Teachers and students expressed their joy for the 50th anniversary of Tibet. They also reflected on the 30 years of inland Tibetan classes with a look to the future.
Headmaster Guo Yongjun stressed: for Tibetan students, school is not only a place of education, but also a home for life. Therefore, the cadres'and teachers'common goal is to create an attractive and modern, warm and harmonious home for the Tibetan children and a place for growing up.
There are seven Tibetan language teachers and two life teachers at Jinan Tibetan Middle School. According to incomplete statistics, more than 200 Tibetan teachers have come to Jinan. They travelled from afar to take on the important task of training Tibet’s next generation and have provided a valuable contribution to Tibet’s prosperity.
As a long-standing inland Tibetan language teacher, Dan Jiu is very grateful to Jinan Tibetan Middle School. He said that he joined the Tibetan class in 1986 and that Jinan Tibetan Middle School has been around since 1985, receiving more than 3600 Tibetan students. Most of the students return to Tibet once they’ve finished middle or high school; they are of different ages but are all very hard working and conscientious.
Jinan Tibetan Middle School arranged for all the students to watch the celebration for the 50th anniversary of the founding of Tibet Autonomous Region held at Potala Palace Square. Some students saw their homeland; some saw their school; and many saw their loved ones. The children expressed their desire to cherish the present, study hard and lay a solid foundation for a new Tibet.
