The 13th Tibet Mountaineering Assembly will take place in early October. Climbers can get a taste of the snow-topped peaks by climbing the 6,000-meter Qizi peak in the northwest of Yangbajain Township, Damxung County of Tibet.

According to the Tibetan mountaineering team, the assembly will last one week. It will include theoretical and hands-on training as well as snow and ice training at an altitude of 5200 meters. As long as physical conditions permit and under the guidance and assistance of the instructor, the mountaineers will take on the Qizi peak.

The Tibetan mountaineering team will send a professional athlete with extensive experience to act as instructor and ensure the safety of the climbers. In addition, the climbers will receive education on mountain environmental protection to prevent damage to the environment on the snow mountain.

Qizi peak has an altitude of 6,206 meters and is located at the western part of the Nyenchen Tanglha mountain range. It’s ideal for junior climbers as there is little danger and climbing difficulty is moderate. In recent years the Tibet Mountaineering Assembly and other activities have taken place at the Qizi summit but many hardened climbers still prefer to climb higher.
