The 13th Mt. Qomolangma Cultural Tourism Festival was promoted in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, Aug. 11, 2015. It was the first time for Tibet Autonomous Region to hold promotion outside the region, Cnr.cn reported.

Shigatse city will host the festival in early September to further develop its cultural tourism industry and promote the city as a global tourism destination.

This 13th Mt. Qomolangma Cultural Tourism Festival will be themed as "Everlasting love, auspicious Shigatse" and fully display its great economic achievements and unique local history and culture. It will contain nine main activities and 11 sub-activities.

The main activities will include the opening ceremony, local folk performances, the Third "Mt. Qomolangma Beautiful Village Girl" Tourism Ambassador Competition, the Second Shigatse Cultural Development Forum and the closing ceremony, and so on.

The sub-activities will include the first "Oath of Eternal Love: Wedding Ceremony at Mt. Qomolangma" activity, the Third Mt. Qomolangma Rare Stone Exhibition, Tibetan Opera performance, square dance competition, the Fourth "Trip to Mt. Qomolangma" Photography Contest, the Tsang folk-custom experience activities, and many others.

Nineteen travel agencies and associations as well as 25 media representatives from Chengdu participated in the promotion.

Representatives and local residents said, before they only recognized Shigatse as the place to climb Mt.Qomolangma and now they get to konw there are so many fun places to visit. They will travel there if they have a chance.

The first Mt. Qomolangma Cultural Tourism Festival began in 2001. It aims to  offer visitors not only excellent natural landscape but also impressive cultural experience.
