Another bus accident happened in Tibet, killing 11 people and injuring eight, which has been the second serious accident during the past ten months. The two buses belonged to the same tourist company.

With the plate number Tibet AL0240, the tour bus carrying 19 people fell off a cliff in Gongkar County along the No.307 Provincial Highway, southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, at about 9:14 a.m, June 10, 2015.

The bus is owned by the Shengdi Vehicle Tour Company, who suffered another bus accident on Aug. 9, 2014.

In the accident in August of 2014, the 55-seat bus carrying 50 people fell off a 10-meter-plus-high cliff after crashing into a sports utility vehicle and a pick-up truck at about 4:25 p.m. on the No. 318 National Highway in Nyemo County.

According to the investigation results released later in December 2014, it appeared that the SUV’s speeding and dangerous lane changing was one of the causes of the tragedy, and the bus also had speeding and potential safety hazards, which caused the crash.

After the accident, the Tibet Autonomous Region’s Bureau of Tourism released an emergency notice, making a limit of the number of passengers on one bus while traveling in Tibet, and sending one policeman on each bus to monitor the driver in order to prevent his speeding or fatigue driving.

The notice also set a stricter speed limit for tourist buses, which was 40 kilometer per hour.
