"I never thought that yak meat we eat everyday could sell for such a high price after deep processing. Now I can earn about 4,000 yuan (644.4 US dollars) per month," said Tam Droma, a 30-year-old villager from Gongkar County of Lhoka Prefecture, southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region.

In recent years, a number of highland agricultural brands "made in Tibet" rapidly became the "name card" of plateau specialty, and bring wealth to Tibetan farmers and herdsmen.
Along with the accelerated construction of plateau specialty base in Tibet, a batch of agriculture and animal husbandry brands are transforming the plateau’s abundant resources into economic advantages. For instance, products after deep processing could create a win-win situation that "enterprises generate more profits and farmers and herdsmen gain more money", said Nyima, head of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Industrialization Department of Tibet Agricultural and Pastoral Office
Now Tibet has initially formed the overall structure of specialty products including yak meat from northeast Tibet, dairy cattle and grain oil from mid Tibet, Tibetan pig, as well as pollution-free vegetables from suburbs. The Tibet Specialty Products Exhibition and Sales Corporation have been established with several physical stores set up in inland. Products such as the highland barley beer and yak milk not only sell well in China, but also enter the markets in the United States, Canada, Japan, and other countries, Nyima said.
Last year plateau specialty products like the brand "Lhasa Pure Land" had entered the Jingdong Mall (a popular E-commerce platform in China).
By the end of 2014, the agriculture and animal husbandry in Tibet has successfully accumulated investments of 3.258 billion yuan (525.5 million US dollars), which supported and cultivated 101 key and leading companies and 2,792 cooperation organizations on agriculture and animal husbandry industrialization. The local agriculture and animal husbandry have been industrialized at a rate of 38.6 percent.
Thanks to the accelerated construction of the plateau specialty base, an increasing number of farmers and herdsmen become rich, said Tsewang Tobgye, head of Tibet Agricultural and Pastoral Office.
In 2014, the per capita disposable income of Tibetan rural residents reached 7,359 yuan (1185 US dollars), a 13-percent increase year on year, which also keeping a two-digit growth rate for 12 consecutive years, Tsewang Tobgye added.
