Earthquake poses hidden dangers to National Highway 318

LHASA,Tibet,May 3 (China Tibet Online) As of May 3, the strong earthquake that jolted Nepal on Apr.25 and greatly influenced neighbouring southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has posed big hidden dangers to the National Highway 318, according to the Tibet Earthquake Relief Headquarters.

The earthquake has caused many highway distresses including pavement cracking, subgrade settlement and gap between Yarle Village and Zham Town of the No.318 National Highway.

Domestic bridge experts have gave an evaluation report on the Bridge 3 in Zham Township and the China-Nepal Friendship Bridge. The Bridge 3 in Zham Township is badly cracked while the China-Nepal Friendship Bridge is undergoing serious peeling.

In addition, many quake-hit country roads in Nyalam County and Gyirong County are now being repaired or broadened to ensure the normal traffic. The International Traffic Rescue Brigade of China Armed Police has reopened the Nepal's side of the Friendship Bridge damaged by landslide.
