Traffic control is being enforced along the Medog Highway in Nyingchi Prefecture, the Tibet Autonomous Region, from March 3 to 27 due to heavy snow that affects traffic,Xinhua reported.
Avalanches and landslides happen frequently between February and March along the Medog Highway.
To reduce the risk of traffic accidents, temporary traffic control is enforced every year during this time when there is an increased risk of natural hazards.
Built in October 2013, the 117-km Medog Highway ended the county's history as the last county in China inaccessible by road. Getting out of Medog used to be very dangerous, requiring the climbing of two snow mountains both 4,000 meters above sea level.
