Without any landmarks or crowds of tourists, this route lets you get close to the original Tibetan lifestyle and seek to pure your heart in the Tibetan- inhabited area of southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Itinerary in brief:Chengdu-Wolong (The Panda Base)-Rilong (Mt. Siguniang)-Danba-Tagong-Xindu Bridge-Kangding-Chengdu

Day 1:Date with the Pandas at the Wolong National Nature Reserve

Opened in 1963, the Wolong National Nature Reserve is the oldest, largest and best-known panda reserve in China. With well-preserved biodiversity and spectacular natural beauty, it is a fairyland for visitors. Transport: there are regular buses from Chengdu Chadianzi Coach Center to Wolong, which usually take three hours.

Day 2:Mount Siguniang

Mount Siguniang, literally "Four Girls Mountain," consists of four continuous peaks with the main peak standing at 6,250 meters high. Known as the "Alps of the East," the mountains are covered by snow and ice all year round, just like four girls veiled with white scarves.

Transport: Regular buses leave from the Chengdu Chadianzi Passenger Transport Center four times a day (at 6:30, 7:00, 7:30 and 12:00) to Rilong Town. Or, you can take a coach from Wolong Town after your Panda trip.

Ticket: Apr-Nov 60-70 Yuan

Dec-Mar 40-50 Yuan

Day 3:Beauty Valley-Danba

With groups of towers scattered around the valley, Danba County has been dubbed "the kingdom of a thousand castles," which were built hundreds of years ago for defense and trade. Known as the "Village of Beauties," girls born in the village are considered particularly beautiful, perhaps due to the favorable environment.

Transport: The most convenient route is to take a coach from Chengdu City or Rilong Town to Danba.

Best time to visit: Spring & Autumn

Lhagang (Tagong) Grassland [Photo/China.org.cn]

"Lhagang" means "the favorite place of the bodhisattva" in Tibetan. Lying beneath the sacred Yallah Mountain, the Lhagang Grassland is a vast expanse of meadow featuring the famous Lhagang Lamasery and golden tower. Look around; you will feel as if you are entering a beautiful paradise that you will not want to leave.

Transport: Take a bus from Chengdu Xinnanmen Bus Station or Kangding Bus Station to Tagong. There are also vans for hire outside the Kangding Bus Station that go to Tagong.

Day 5:Xindu Bridge

Xinduqiao is the name of a town. Without any landmark, Xinduqiao is famous for a colorful landscape of fantastic light and shadow, and it is regarded as a paradise for photographers.

Transportation: the most convenient and favorable route to Xinduqiao is by car along the Sichuan-Tibet highway. Alternatively, take a coach from Kangding and get off at Xindu stop.
