Guangming Gangqiong Tea House
Guangming Gangqiong Sweet Tea House, the most famous sweet tea house in Lhasa, is located near the Barkhor street. For those who come for the first time, they are very likely to get amazed at the boisterous atmosphere in this place. Sweet tea here is sold 0.6 yuan per cup. Waiters or waitresses may come and serve you as long as they see an empty cup and the pay on the table. What's special about the teahouse is that the money it made will be denoted to Dekyi Orphanage, a orphanage run by an extraordinary Tibetan woman named Dadron. All the money needed for the day-to-day running of the orphanage comes from Snowy Happy Tea House’s contribution and the donation from kind people. The 80 orphans consisting of Tibetans and children of Han nationality are adopted in the Dekyi Orphanage. Tourists may come and have a taste of sweet tea and do charity at the same time.
