Bicycle tracks ready-made for cyclers around Qinghai Lake
Twenty kilometers of bicycle tracks have been paved for cyclers around the Qinghai Lake, and tracks around the whole lake will be expected to be laid in the future as Xinhua reported.
It is reported that every summer a great many of cyclers from home and abroad will come to cycle around the Qinghai Lake in northeast China’s Qinghai Province. They generally set off from the Xihai Township of Haiyan County in Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture circling clockwise around the lake. However, for many years there has not been any bicycle track for them.
Bicycle tracks started to be paved since this July in the Hainan Tibetan Prefecture from the forbidden area(In order to protect the environment, six forbidden areas close to the lake were built to prevent passing vehicles from entering the Qinghai Lake scenic zone, reported by china.com.cn.) at the Jiayi Village of the Daotanghe Township all the way to the 151st Scenic Spot of the Qinghai Lake extending 31 kilometers. The construction is expected to be finished by this October, according to Di Duohong, chief of the Road Section of the Transportation Bureau of the Hainan Tibetan Prefecture. The total investment is 16.2 million yuan, and it is built by the rural road standard of 2-meter-thick roadbed and 3-meter-wide road. So far 20 kilometers have been completed.
The bicycle tracks will separate bicycles from vehicles so that cyclers will feel safer. In the meanwhile, rest stations will also be set up along the lake for the convenience of cyclers, Di Duohong said.
