Tibet has set up the world's first plateau-based aviation company, Tibet Airlines Co.,LTD on July 26, 2011, ending the history of Tibet without local airlines.

Wang Fohui, one of the first female pilots trained by Tibet Airlines on the plateau airport, said: "The visibility of Lhasa is very good. At night, the bright moonlight lights up the surrounding mountains, and only we sitting in the cockpit could see the breathtaking beauty."

Over the past three years, Tibet Airlines has realized a complete coverage of all the airports in the Tibet Autonomous Region, which centered on Lhasa and expanded its air routes to Chengdu, Xining, Shanghai, Shenzhen and etc. In the meantime, the development of domestic initiative monomer diffusion oxygen equipment has solved the problem of pilot staying overnight in the plateau.

For the flight safety, the Tibet Airlines has introduced Airbus A319 with best plateau performance, taking a full consideration of the safety of plateau operation and passenger comfort. The white fuselage is spray-painted logos with multicolored prayer color, as well as the seat and headpiece are respectively painted yellow and red which are commonly used in Tibet.

The airplanes are specially equipped with Tibetan cuisine including buttered tea, highland barley cookies and yak milk.

The Tibet Airlines had wined the honor of "2013 Best Airline" according to the 2013 Airline Service Evaluation Report and Airport Service Evaluation Report released by the Fifth Civil Aviation and Media Communication Forum.
