Tibet medicine officially applies for world intangible heritage
Tibet regional Culture Department released that the application of Tibetan medicine for the world intangible heritage list of UNESCO(United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization), has been launched,Xinhua reported.
It also issued that the application has been officially submitted to the national Culture Ministry,and the preparing materials on texts and videos have been completed.
Unknown to most of the public,Tibetan medicine is one of the “Four Major World Traditional Medicines”,the other three are Chinese traditional medicine,ancient India traditional medicine and ancient Arabic traditional medicine.
It has established an integrated ideology system with abundant clinical experiences, known as one of the most integrity and influencing ethnic traditional medicines,which has lasted over 2,300 years.
Kyky,an offical with the regional Culture Department said that the Tibetan medicine,a representative of the Chinese traditional ethnic medicine, has attached the world’s attention for its long history,integrated ideology and effect. It is a rarity for the research on Tibetan history,cultural,religion and customs.
The application work enhanced the progress on Tibetan medicine’s heritage and development.
In order to promote the application work,the regional government has made up a leading group,consisting of culture,Tibetan medicine and other departments.meanwhile,an expert committee was also established,including professors from Tibet Autonomous Region,Qinghai Province and Sichuan Province.
It is said that Tibetan opera and Gesar has been listed on the world intangible heritage list of UNESCO in 2013,as first world heritages of UNESCO in Tibet. Besides, there are 76 national intangible heritages and 323 regional intangible heritages in Tibet.
