A Grand Summon Ceremony was held in the Chanding Monastery in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, lasting for 15 days, which was followed by a series of religious activities. Built in 1295, the Canding Monastery is one of the oldest temples in Amdo area (a historical geographic name referring to today's Amdo-Tibetan-speaking areas in Qinghai, Gansu and Sichuan provinces), and is culturally, religiously and historically dominant in Gannan area. Photo taken by He Yanwu, a renowned oil painter, photographer as well as a publisher who took the gold prize in the "Beauty of Tibet" Painting Contest held by China Tibet Online in 2013. He was on a photographic trip focusing on the religious and folk life in Tibet Autonomous Region and Tibetan-inhibited areas in China was unveiled on Feb. 5 and will last to the end of March.
