As this year's Butter Lamp Festival falls on Dec. 27 by Tibetan calendar, numerous butter lamps are lit up on windows sills, balconies across all the streets and lanes to commemorate Tsongkapa, founder of the Gelu Sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
