Each winter in recent years, there are batches of black-necked cranes migrating to the middle and southern part of Tibet Autonomous Region as the habitat for them has been effectively improved thanks to the governments’ efforts and the locals’ enhanced awareness in perseveration. The endangered wild birds, which are native to the plateau and listed under key state protection, are favored by Tibetans and therefore called "saint bird of the snow land".
