22-year-old Tibetan Olympian wins bronze medal

The 22-year-old Tibetan girl Qieyang Shenjie,the first Tibetan Olympian in the Chinese Olympic history, won the bronze medal in the women's 20-kilometer race walk on Saturday, August 11, 2012.
Born in Tsochang in the Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, Qieyang Shenjie debuted at the ongoing London Olympics in the 20-km Women's Race Walking event on August 11.
In this year's IAAF Race Walking Challenge held in Taicang, Jiangsu Province, She won the bronze medal of the 20-km walk race in 1:27:04, which not only won her the ticket to participate in the London Olympic Games, but also became the first Tibetan athlete to enter the Olympic stadium in the Chinese history.
Currently ranking 10th in the world, Qieyang competed with some of the biggest names in the game.
Born on November 11, 1990, the Tibetan walking wonder began race walking in 2008. Two years later, she was selected in the national team. She has a good performance in several worldwide sport competitions, including the 2011 IAAF Race Walking Challenge cum, the 13th World Championships in Athletics and the 12th Chinese National Games.
