The Yangbajain geothermal wetland lies in the south of Damxung County at the intersection of the two tributaries in the upper reaches of the Tohlung Chu River, a tributary of the Lhasa River in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
There are many big and small thermal springs at a temperature of about 30℃-40℃, making up China's famous geothermal field.
The best time to visit the springs is the morning, when the hot water vapor towers straight into the sky and pervades in the air, disappearing among the snow-capped mountains.
All the springs are named vividly, for instance, the "steaming bread hot spring" indicates that the water is warm enough to steam bread, and other names such as "boiling vinegar hot spring" and "boiling fish hot spring" are interesting and meaningful as well.
