As late autumn comes and winter is approaching, many vagrant Chinese people become homesick due to the climate change, so do the aged widowed people in the social welfare homes. Reporters from China Tibet Online will focus on these lonely old people in China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

On Oct. 9, the day after the "National Hypertension Day" of China, the public health workers in Lhasa carried out free health checkup for 56 lonely aged people in the social welfare home of the Chengguan and established health records for them.
The activity was organized by the Lhasa Municipal Bureau of Civil Administration, aiming to help prevent the lonely aged people from illnesses so that  they can stay healthy and happy in the cold winter.

China's National Hypertension Day is on Oct. 8 and the country welcomes its 14th anniversary of the day this October.

The idea of celebrating the "National Hypertension Day" was decided by the Health Ministry of the Chinese government in 1998, aiming to raise the masses' awareness to the harm of hypertension, call on people and organs from various fields of the country to attach more importance to the illness and participate in the prevention and control of the disease, spread knowledge of hypertension prevention and enhance people's sense of self-care.
