A Horse-racing Festival and Commodity Fair held joint opening ceremony on August, 19 in Damxung County, Lhasa,capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

As the opening activity of Shoton festival, the grassland carnival is scheduled from 19th to 25th in August.

Known as biggest Tibetans' 'supermarket', the commodity fair attracted tens of thousands of locals and tourists to join the event.

Tourists can buy special local souvenirs including fur, yogurt, Tibetan knife, highland barley, Tibetan glutinous rice cake, tea, and etc; while locals mainly target on daily necessities.

Businessmen with sharp eyes come from all around China. They not only sell products, but also sell 'joy'. Mr. Sun, from Henan Province, in middle China, has set up a game booth in the fair, which can earn around 1,000 yuan (about 154 US dollars) per day.

Last year, the Shoton Commodity Fair started from August 10 to 17, featuring special products, local delicacies, drinks and beverages, autos and motor cycles, real estate exhibition, and etc.
