Tibet's internet users accumulated to 1.2 million
Among Tibet's total 3 million population in 2010, 1.2 million of them are Internet users, of which about 104,000 use broadband. A figure released from the ongoing exhibition in Beijing celebrating Tibet's achievements over the past 60 years after being peaceful liberated.
Now a telecommunication network has been established covering all prefectures, counties, townships, major transportation lines and tourist destinations in Tibet.
Statistics show that during 11th Five-Year plan period (2006-2010), telecommunication sector's total business value reached 20.3 billion yuan and made 9.1 billion yuan profit. Till 2010, telephone users in Tibet are 2.01 million and the popularity rate of telecommunication came up to 70 percent.
The aforesaid exhibition is co-sponsored by many national-level departments and will open till July, 8th, free to the public.
