Tibet Economic Development Forum held in Lhasa
The Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) Economic Development Forum was organized by the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Lhasa, capital city of TAR on July 27th, 2010.
The attendees were encouraged to provide ideas in implementing the principles of the Fifth Forum of the Central Government on Work in TAR, promoting TAR's leap-forward development and maintaining a long-term peace and stability.
At the opening ceremony, Meng Xianlai, member of the Population, Resource and Environment Committee of the CPPCC addressed the forum on behalf of Zhang Weiqing, chairman of the committee.
Meng said it was of great significance to hold the forum. According to the Chinese central government, TAR should apply the strategy of scientific outlook on development to TAR's economic and social development to realize the economic growth, abundant life, sound eco-system, social stability and cultural progress, and to achieve the great objective of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
"Members should make use of the advantage of the national and local Committees of CPPCC to provide wise, far-sighted and practical ideas," said Meng.
At the opening ceremony, Pasang Dondrup, member of the Standing Committee of TAR's Communist Party of China (CPC), Party secretary and vice president of TAR's committee of CPPCC expressed gratitude to CPPCC for its effective guidance and strong support in TAR's economic and social development.
