A comprehensive bookstore
The opening ceremony of the Tibet Bookstore in Beijing was held on June 28, 2010. Featuring original Tibetan style, with burning Tibetan incense and background music played by Tibetan Xuanzi, the bookstore is the best place for readers to retreat themselves from the fast-paced urban life.
"We have cooperated with more than 70 publishing houses. Readers can find all books related to Tibet here," said the chief manager. Now books in Tibetan, Chinese, English, German, French can all be found in the bookstore.

According to the chief manager of the Tibet Bookstore, 15,000 kinds of books will be sold in the near future, 90% of which are related to Tibet.
Besides, the audio and video products, works of calligraphy and Thangka are supplied here. People can enjoy precious pictures taken by famous photographers.
"At the end of this year, a dinner bar will be opened opposite the bookstore soon. We want to make both the bookstore and the bar homelike and relaxing places for readers, members and tourists who can read and talk here," said the general manager.
Tibet Bookstore is supported by Xinhua Bookstore of Tibet Autonomous Region, Tibet People's Publishing House and Beijing Ding Chunde Property Limited.

A special bookstore
Next to Beijing Tibet Middle School, not far from the China Tibetology Research Center and Beijing Tibet Hotel, the bookstore has attracted many scholars, teachers, students nearby as well as tourists in Beijing.
During the first few days of trial operation, teachers and students from Beijing Tibet Middle School bought many books. "The decorations here are comfortable and the service is very considerate," a teacher told.

People who become members of the bookstore can get discounts when buying products here. "Our members can get discounts in our partner bookstores, hotels and restaurants even when they travel in Tibet Autonomous Region or other Tibetan-inhabited areas in China.”
"We also offer services such as book ordering, member card discount, VIP member privilege," said the manager of the Tibet Bookstore.
"We chose a lucky day in both Chinese and Tibetan to open our bookstore," said the general manager. The colorful lucky paintings shown in the ceiling and window frames express best wishes for the Tibet Bookstore.
