Organic food processing, traditional Tibetan medicine producing and mineral industry, listed as the three pillar industries with Tibetan indigenous characteristics are booming taking up half of the Top 100 Taxpayers List in Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), according to the TAR tax payment ranking released recently.
Statistics shows that industries in TAR are undergoing a gradual transition from the resource-oriented to industry-oriented types. Through market development and operation, the enterprises of indigenous products have broken into the domestic and global market.
In 2010, ZangYuan Barley Wine Brewing Co. Ltd, 5100 Mineral Water and Shenglu Corporation were awarded as the three best trademarks of Tibetan Indigenous products in China.
“In 2009, a fund of 5 billion Yuan was allocated by the TAR local government In order to enhance the development of indigenous industry, another 8.3 billion Yuan was used to boost products of indigenous agriculture and animal husbandry, as well as 1 billion Yuan was designated as a special fund for inspection of mineral resources in TAR,” said an official of TAR Bureau of Finance.
The next step is to increase the support of the local government in terms of funding and policy, and implement the favorable taxation policies for the local indigenous industries.
