The Tibetan exhibition hall, showcasing Tibetan ethnic characteristics, is eye-catching at the 10th Western China International Economy and Trade Fair which opened in Sichuan on Friday.

In the 180-sq m hall decorated with bright colors and Tibetan elements are ten exhibition booths displaying the products with Tibetan characteristics, such as yak meat, Tibetan medicines, Tibetan carpets, the beverage with caterpillar fungi ingredients and Tibetan incense.

At the fair, visitors can enjoy listening to Tibetan folk songs while viewing the exhibits. Meanwhile, they are distributed brochures titled "Guide to Invest in Tibet Autonomous Region" and DVDs publicizing Tibet's investment environment, preferential policies, major enterprises and key projects for investment.

"The exhibition booths showcase Tibetan's industries and commodities to visitors from across the country," said Liu Jiaxin, deputy director of the Trade and Investment Promotion Department of Nagqu Prefecture, southeastern Tibet.

Nagqu is among the key prefectures in Tibet attending the fair. On the opening day, eight of the 67 projects proposed by the Tibet Autonomous Regional Government attracted business partners, who signed with Tibetan companies responsible for the projects. All the projects are set to be launched in Nagqu.

"As an official for aid to Tibet, I'm keenly aware of the rapid development of Tibet all these years," said Xiang Hongfeng, director of the Working Office of the Nagqu Logistics Center.

"Now, Tibet, on the one hand, has been taking moves to get in touch with enterprises in inland cities. On the other hand, it has invited business people all over the country to inspect and invest in the region."

The annual Western China International Economy and Trade Fair (WCIETF) first started in 2000. It is co-sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Commerce, nine other central departments, twelve western provinces, autonomous regions and Chongqing Municipality and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

Now the fair has become an important platform for diplomatic exchanges, investment promotion, trade expansion and regional cooperation, as well as a window for opening-up in western China.
