Before the Democratic Reform, sports facilities in Tibet were simple and crude, and there was not much sports and fitness activities. To promote mass sports activity was only a dream.

At present, in cities and towns of Tibet Autonomous Region, there are now more than 30 public spaces for morning and evening exercises, which become hangouts for many citizens and sports enthusiasts.

Various sports activities enrich people's spare-time lives. Traditional ethnic sports are carried out on festivals in grazing areas, and are carried forward in this way.

In recent years, Tibetan sports delegations have taken part in many mass sports games such as National Games for Ethnic Minorities, National Paralympic Games, National City Games and All-China Games, winning 22 gold medals, 12 silvers and 13 bronzes.
