Founded on May 16, 2001, Qomolangma Post Office provides postal service for mountaineers and tourists from home and abroad every year. In order to meet of the needs of the activity of Olympic flame onto Mt. Qomolangma, a temporary post office in Mt. Qomolangma Base Camp was set up by the TAR Postal Company on April 18 this year, which is the highest post office in the world right now.

The temporary office will open to the public till the end of October without any holidays with an average reception of 40 customers each day. A temporary postal road from Tingri County to Mt. Qomolangma Base Camp was set up  to ensure the postal service during the activity of Olympic flame onto Mt. Qomolangma.
