Tibetans celebrate Kongpo New Year

CHINA-TIBET-NYINGCHI-KONGPO NEW YEAR (CN)

Villagers gather to celebrate the Kongpo New Year in Mainling County of Nyingchi, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, Nov. 19, 2017. More than 2,000 people have been relocated to temporary shelters after a 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit Nyingchi on Saturday. According to the Tibetan calendar, Sunday is the first day of the Kongpo New Year in the Nyingchi area. Thanks to timely rescue efforts, the celebration among locals went smoothly as planned.
