All of 8 quake-damaged roads in Tibet reopened to traffic

Eight roads in Kata Town, severely damaged by the earthquake happened on May 11 in Tengchen County of Chamdo City of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, have all been reopened to traffic with  over 10,000 people properly relocated, according to People.cn.

More than 100 local houses collapsed in this 5.5-magnitude earthquake as most of them were built by the rammed earth. In Kata Town alone, 80 houses have seen different levels of damages. In addition, 69 people were injured in the earthquake, 12 of the severely injured were sent to the People's Hospital of Chamdo City.

The Party committee and the government of the Tibet Autonomous Region made an immediate decision to allocate 25 million yuan (4.03 million US dollars) to the quake-hit Tengchen and other counties for emergency relief and the relocation of the victims.
