The 2017 Lhasa City Science and Technology Week officially opened in Siji Jixiang Village in Qushui County on May 22, with the second Lhasa City Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition kicking off on the same day.

The opening ceremony included popular science propaganda, free clinics, artistic performances, an exhibition on achievements in science and technology and other events.

 Several innovative science and technology products attracted a lot of attention at the opening ceremony. The Tibet Arts and Culture Communication Co. exhibited a “wisdom sword” pen for Tibetan script that they have been developing over the last two years.

Dorje Tseping, a co-founder of the company, said that each language had its own unique needs for writing instruments, so for this product, they combined the traditional Tibetan bamboo pen with a fountain pen, assimilating many good aspects of each. The pen has created a monthly sale of 40,000 since it was put into market in December 2016.
