Preschool enrollment rate in Tibet makes a breakthrough
By the end of 2013, Tibet has 613 kindergartens, with an enrollment rate of preschool education reaching 52 percent, up 7 percent compared to last year, according to Xinhua report.
In 2013, 112 town-level bilingual kindergartens and 164 village-level bilingual kindergartens were built in Tibet.
Currently, 73,000 kids study in the kindergartens in Tibet, an increase of 12,000.
From the fall quarter of 2012, Tibet became the first place in China to enjoy 15-year free education (three-year preschool, six-year primary school, three-year junior middle school and three-year senior middle school).
All students studying in the public schools in Tibet can enjoy the 15-year free education. For those who study in the private schools, the government provide equivalent fiscal subsidies for them.
Since 2012,Tibet has comprehensively initiated the three-year preschool education in cities and towns, and the two-year preschool education in agricultural and pastoral areas, in the hope of basically popularizing its preschool education.
It is expected that the capital construction of all kinds of schools at all levels in Tibet can reach the national standard in 2015, with the enrollment rate of the three-year preschool education of 95% in cities and towns, and the enrollment rate of the two-year preschool education of 85% in agricultural and pastoral areas.
