Ten specialists from the Beijing Children's Hospital provided free clinics for over 100 children with eye diseases in Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, on May 31, the day before the Children’s Day, Chinanews.com reported.

Besides the free clinic, specialists also gave lectures on eye diseases prevention in local middle and primary schools on June 1.

"Because of the intensive ultraviolet rays, the incidences of cataract and other eye diseases are relatively high on plateau. Our clinic aims to strengthen public awareness of eye diseases prevention, and reduce the incidence rate and delay the onset of cataract in children," said Li Li, director of eye center of Beijing Children’s Hospital.

It is said that the free clinics will be long-term.
