Students'nutrition improvement project fully covers rural areas of Tibet

Tibet has carried out the nutrition improvement project for students at the stage of compulsory education in 74 counties of agricultural and pastoral areas since the spring semester of the year 2012, chinatibetnews.com reported.

The food subsidy standard for each student is three yuan per day, and each student can get an average of 600 yuan food subsidy per year, assuming that students stay at school for 200 days a year.

Statistics show that Tibet has allocated 62 million yuan on the nutrition improvement project for students at the stage of compulsory education in rural areas in the spring of 2014, which benefitted more than 200,000 students.

"After the implementation of nutrition improvement project, I strongly feel that students’ physical state has been improved greatly," said Xu Hongli, a physical education teacher at Nyangri Primary School, Lhasa, Tibet.

Until the end of 2013, the expenditure of nutrition improvement project reached 270 million yuan and benefitted 450,000 students all together.
