Home to more than 80,000 residents, the Barkhor Street of Lhasa is full of life. Tibetan children particularly add vigor to the ancient street, where the alley grocery was an inseparable part of their childhood life.
Kids' games such as skipping rubber band, kicking shuttlecock and playing hide-and-seek are still popular here. Sitting down on doorsteps, and listening to grandma telling the story of Barkhor Street is also one of the children’s most beautiful memories in their childhood.
Born in the ancient city and having spent their childhood on the Barkhor Street, children’s joy and happiness can be found at every corner of the Barkhor Street.
The Barkhor Street, with a history dating back to the seventh century, is the most important pilgrimage route for Tibetans as well as a time-honored cultural heritage.
