Even though Dawa Puzhen from Lhasa Senior High School was born with achondroplasia, she got high scores in the national college entrance examination and hoped to go to Beijing for university education.

Suffering from achondroplasia, Dawa Puzhen cannot study and live like other healthy students. She cannot take exercises after class or even walk for a long time, which brings her great inconvenience. However, this strong Tibetan girl ranked No.4 among liberal arts examinees in the national college entrance examination of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

Reviewing her study, Dawa Puzhen shows great appreciation to the helpful teachers and classmates.

"I was fragile like a china doll which cannot be touched. When I was in the elementary school, a boy knocked me down by accident. My teacher rushed to save me, rubbing at my hands and legs. Even through it happened many years ago, it has warmed my heart until now. The help I get from teachers, classmates and some strangers is the driving force for me to overcome all the difficulties," said Dawa Puzhen.

Considering the disease and the convenience to take care of her, Dawa Puzhen's father wants to keep his daughter in the hometown and suggested that she apply the Tibet University. But Dawa Puzhen insisted to apply universities in Beijing.

"It is my childhood dream to go to Beijing. So I applied the Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Language and Culture University and other universities in Beijing. I can be strong enough to support myself, and I don't want my parents to worry about my future," Dawa Puzhen said.

Learning the daughter's aspiration to study in Beijing, Dawa Puzhen's father finally agreed on her decision.

"If Dawa is lucky to be admitted to universities in Beijing, my retired wife can accompany her there. My daughter is strong, and let her choose her own life," Dawa Puzhen's father said.
