Children enjoy sports on the plateau
Though the high altitude and harsh climate of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau lead to physical discomforts, especially the reduced athletic ability due to oxygen deficiency, local residents are not affected but are keen on having various athletic activities, both traditional and modern. The following photos show a small-scaled football game by a group of young players on the playground of the highest aid-Tibet elementary school in Tibet.
Located in northern Tibet's Nagqu Prefecture, the Palgon Sinopec Elementary School opened in August 2011 is the world's highest aid-Tibet elementary school with an average altitude of 4,745 meters.
The school is equipped with full teaching and living facilities and provides free food, lodging and tuition for pupils according to the beneficial policy in Tibet.
