CHD screening conducted for over one mln Tibetan children
Over one million children in Tibet received congenital heart disease (CHD) screening during Oct. 29 to Nov. 5, 2013, among whom 2,547 have been diagnosed with CHD and 1,728 surgeries have been conducted, according to the health department of Tibet Autonomous Region.
It is reported that those children with congenital heart disease will be sent to the two designated hospitals- People’s Hospital of Tibet Autonomous Region and General Hospital Tibet Military District- for free treatments after preliminary examination and definite diagnosis, and those in more serious conditions will be sent to other famous hospitals of inland Chinese cities for free treatment.
According to source from the health department of Tibet Autonomous Region, Tibet will construct a dynamic congenital heart disease screening and treatment system for the newly born infant patients, apart from those who have been counted, in order to achieve the aim of eliminating congenital heart disease, according to the official taking charge of CHD treatment and cure office of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
