Job fair intended for Tibetan graduates kicked off in Tibet University for Nationalities in Xianyang, northwest China’s Shaanxi Province on May 26th, 2013.
Forty-two companies both from Tibet Autonomous Region and Shaanxi Province provided for current Tibetan graduates more than 400 positions (job vacancies) in finance, trade, industry and commerce, tourism, administrative work and so on.
More than 2,580 Tibetan graduates attended the job fair, and 329 of them signed the primary employment agreements with the employers.
The job fair was jointly organized by Tibet Human Resources and Social Security Department, Tibet University for Nationalities and other public institutions.
Pi Dazhong, deputy director of Human Resources and Social Security Department of Tibet Autonomous Region, said at the opening ceremony of the job fair, "Guaranteeing employment of Tibetan graduates means a lot to Tibet as well as to the whole country. On the one hand, it can help Tibet achieve the leapfrog development; on the other hand, it will promote national unity. The job fair intended for Tibetan graduates provides a platform for companies and students to interact, which is also conducive to implement the preferential policy for Tibetan people."
Some graduates are not sure about their career plans, so they are always passive when choosing occupations. On the previous day before the job fair, Pi Dazhong delivered a lecture to analyze the employment situation and preferential policy for Tibetan graduates to help them take a correct attitude toward job-hunting.
Since employment is important for both public well-being and social stability in Tibet Autonomous Region, the regional government has adopted various measures to increase employment of Tibetan students in 2013.
Tibet has proven to be an ideal place to do business with preferential tax policies and easy access to traffic.
In order to encourage graduates to start their own business, college graduates in Tibet can apply for a small-sum guaranteed loan of less than 50,000 yuan (about $8,195) with full fiscal interest discount within the length of maturity.
Those who start a company as a founding team can apply for accumulative small loans of less than one million yuan (about $163,935).
