Tibet Women's Federation Recognizes Outstanding Women, Units

The Tibet Women's Federation in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region held an International Women's Day awards ceremony on March 6, 2013, to recognize outstanding women and work units who have made great contributions to Tibet's economic development and social stability.
A total of 30 women, 20 units and 20 families were honored at the ceremony, which was attended by more than 120 people from various sectors, including award winners, officials and soldiers.
Zhou Shiying, secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Tibet Women's Federation, presided over the awards ceremony.

Liang Tiangeng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Tibet Regional Party Committee and current director general of Tibet's Department of Organization, delivered a speech in which he congratulated the winners and said that women play an important role in the development and social harmony of the region.
He also praised the work of women's federations of different levels and encouraged them to continue serving local women and creating advantageous opportunities for women's development.
In addition, Liang called on various party committees and governments to support women's federations in helping women resolve their work and life challenges.
Representatives of award winners also made speeches at the ceremony.
