Having received free surgeries in Beijing, thirteen Tibetan children with congenital heart disease (CHD) from Tibet Autonomous Region went back home after recovery on April 7th, 2013.

These little patients arrived in Beijing on April 3rd, and immediately received detailed body examinations before surgeries. At 7:30 am on April 4th, thirteen Tibetan children started getting surgeries which lasted almost 14 hours.

"The surgeries are very successful, and these children have recovered very well. Different from other diseases, patients suffered from CHD need earlier intervention and treatment so that they can live like other healthy children," said Chen Yu, deputy director of the physician of Beijing General Navy Hospital.

When the guide teacher was not around, he became a little translator for doctors and other Tibetan patients. "Doctors are very nice to us, and this is what I can do to help them," said Kalzang Drakpa.

Nyima Cering is the guide teacher in charge of the surgeries of these Tibetan children in Beijing.

"I think these children are very lucky to receive such excellent treatment in Beijing. The hospital takes very good care of them. We are here for CHD treatment, but doctors also cure other diseases for them if they have," said Nyima Cering.
