Tibetan-Chinese bilingual story contest for children held in Lhasa
The Tibetan-Chinese Bilingual Children's Story Contest, sponsored by Tibet People's Broadcasting Station and China National Radio, came to an end recently in Lhasa, capital city of southwest China's Tibet.
42 young contestants from seven prefectures throughout Tibet dressed in ethnic costume participated in the competition. Six finalists were then chosen to participate in a five-day event in Beijing.
Samdeng Gyatso, a contestant from Nagchu, presented a story called "My Wishes", telling stories about planting tree in Nagchu. He said, " want to use this story to call on other children to protect the environment we live in from childhood."
Pema Dekyi, a primary school student from Gerze County, used her story "Unity: My China Heart" to tell everyone that the 56 ethnic groups are all one family, and they should help each other and unite together.
A total of 42 contestants have 42 stories; each story has its own deep meaning. Yin Sha, an official with the Tibet People's Broadcasting Station, said, "In future we will organize such activities more often to cultivate children's hobbies and promote their ability to express themselves. Children in Tibet will then have more opportunities to show themselves."
